Service
& Calibration
Does
our tester need to be pat tested?
Yes
it does! It is a portable electrical appliance, and so it needs to be
pat tested. More importantly, it also needs to be calibrated,
so you can be sure that it giving accurate results.
Calibration
is a complex process, so we recommend you send your tester
back to us once every year, or more frequently if you are
testing constantly. In addition to calibrating the machine,
making the necessary adjustments, and providing a calibration
certificate, we will also carry out a pat test on the tester.
Most
of the machines that we sell are calibrated by the manufacturer
- those that are not are calibrated and tested by us before
we sell them. You should therefore, not need to have your
tester calibrated until it is a year old. However, you should
have it calibrated immediately if you suspect that the results
it is giving are not accurate.
We
didn't buy our tester from you, can you still calibrate it?
Yes!
We can calibrate most machines, including those from AVO /
Megger, Irwin, Robin, and Martindale. We can calibrate most
of the Seaward range, but not the Supernova or Europa range
- see below.
How
much does it cost?
There
is a fixed charge for calibration which applies to most machines.
Our charge is £39.00 + VAT if you deliver and collect
the tester yourself, or £64.00 + VAT including return
carriage.
We
have a Seaward Supernova or Europa - can you calibrate it?
The most recent machines from Seaward, including the Supernova
and Europa, can only be calibrated by the manufacturers and
must be sent back to them, or one of their 'approved' service
centres. We understand from Seaward that their current charge
is approx £100 per calibration. Note however, that this only
applies to the most recent machines, including the Supernova
and Europa. It does not apply to the other machines in the
current Seaward range, or any of their older models.
Our
tester is broken - can you fix it?
Yes we
can! We provide free quotations, and will only proceed with
a repair once we have your approval. We charge a reasonable
hourly rate for repairs, and charge for parts / components
at cost price.
